The EXPLOSIVE SNOW ARROW M.92 is made up of 3 parts: a tube, a nozzle and a tail comprising the priming system and a thrust plate. The 40 mm diameter tube holds the 2 liters of SECUBEX explosive. The thrust plate provides propulsion and ensures a seal in the avalanche tube during firing. Its two needles lock the locking pin of the striker which they release when the projectile has travelled a sufficient distance. A magnet maintains the striker in the rear position while in the air. The striker is projected onto the primer upon impact with the snow. It triggers the detonator which fires the explosive load. The explosion takes place above the snowpack.
